Child Labour in Pakistan

CHILD LABOUR ON PAKISTAN

God has given human beings the boon of wisdom and discretion to think upon the signs of the universe and draw conclusions. That is the reason why they disclose the hidden facts of it and its structure and have made remarkable progress in many walks of life. They are the flowers of heaven. They are the most beautiful and purest creation of Allah.Early in the morning when the children put on different kind of clothes and begin to go to school for the sake of knowledge, we feel a specific kind of joy trough their innocence.

But there are also other children who cannot go to school due to financial problem, they only watch others go to school and can merely wish to seek knowledge.
Child labor in Pakistan is the employment of children work for Pakistan, leading a mental, physical, moral and social harm to children. The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan estimated in the 1990s that 1 million children were working in the country, half of those under the age of ten. In 1996, the median age for a child entering the work force was seven, down from eight years old 2 years prior.

WHY CHILDREN WORK?

Children do heavy work for the sake of money. They need money for buying food, food for themselves or for their family, and also for other basic needs like clothes, drugs, school fees etc.
International Labour Organization (ILO) suggest poverty is the greatest single cause behind child labour. Pakistan has a per-capita income of approximately $1900. A middle class person in Pakistan earns around $5 a day on average, The average Pakistani has to feed nine or ten people with their daily wage. Further to that there is also the high inflation rate to contend with. As of 2008, 17.2% of the total population lives below the poverty line, which is the lowest figure in the history of Pakistan. Poverty levels appear to necessitate that children work in order to allow families to reach their target take-home pay. On the side of the firm, the low cost child labour gave manufactures a significant advantage in the Western marketplace, where they undersell their competitors from countries prohibiting child labour often by improbable amount.

GOVERNMENT POLICIES

The present government of Pakistan has made elementary education compulsory.  Along with this the government has distributed free books in primary schools so that parents, who cannot afford their children's school expenses, send their children to school. The major point is that this decision must be acted upon at all levels.

WHAT SHOULD WE DO

First of all the major responsibility is for we the people to live in the society. It starts in your home. Never make any servant underage. Give come financial help to the street boys. Unite people who want to help them. Make welfare groups. Give children education and give them shelter and food. If we all work from our place as far as we can, then wit is possible to have a result. Never put any child to hard and heavy working an industry. Boycott the people who are doing this and raise your voice against them. Come forward and take your own responsibility and make your own judgments.

Children are the sign of innocence and purity.  Your heart should melt in tears when you see them sleeping in the street with a hungry belly if you are a real human. We the youth raise our voice. Make the world a better place for the upcoming generations.
